HEC Liège consolidates its leadership in global transitions
Master in Global Transition and Sustainability Management
In a context shaped by climate, economic, technological and geopolitical transformations, HEC Liège is launching the Master in Global Transition and Sustainability Management, a 120-credit programme taught entirely in English and dedicated to understanding and managing the major transitions shaping today’s world.
With this new Master’s program, HEC Liège affirms a clear ambition: to educate the leaders who will drive transition in a rapidly changing world.
This new programme stands out for its distinctive positioning. It is fully centred on transition and sustainability issues, at the core of today’s economic, societal, technological and environmental transformations.
Unlike specialised tracks embedded within existing Master’s degrees, this programme is a stand-alone, thematic Master’s degree, designed from the outset to prepare professionals who can understand, structure and lead transitions.
A unique interdisciplinary program in Belgium
The Master is built on an interdisciplinary approach drawing on:
- management and economics
- natural sciences, including climate, energy and ecosystems
- social and political sciences
- strategic and technological tools
Courses will be delivered by professors from several faculties of the University of Liège, providing students with a systemic understanding of contemporary challenges and of the interactions between environment, society, economy and technology.
This cross-disciplinary approach clearly distinguishes the programme from both traditional management degrees and programmes focused exclusively on environmental issues.
Training Change Makers
Beyond academic knowledge, the programme places strong emphasis on action and implementation through:
- a capstone project developed in collaboration with real organisations
- foresight seminars dedicated to exploring possible futures
- leadership and personal development modules
- practical tools for transformation and decision-making
The objective is to train graduates who are able to act, anticipate and design transition strategies in complex environments.
A program aligned with organisational needs
As sustainability and transformation requirements continue to grow, organisations increasingly need professionals who can connect strategy, science and implementation.
This Master aims to respond to that structural shift by educating experts able to contribute across a wide range of settings, including:
- companies
- public institutions
- international organisations
- consulting firms
- impact entrepreneurship
A program open to diverse academic backgrounds
The Master is designed for students from a wide range of university Bachelor’s degrees — including science, engineering, social sciences, economics and law — who want to understand and lead ongoing transformations.
It is also open to graduates who already hold a first Master’s degree and wish to develop strategic expertise in transition and sustainability issues.
This openness contributes to the programme’s interdisciplinary richness and to the development of profiles able to connect science, management and society.
A strategic ambition for HEC Liège
With this launch, HEC Liège strengthens its positioning as a business school committed to addressing major societal transformations.
